Frequently Asked Questions

When it comes to your financial needs, you may have several questions to ask. Here are some of the most frequently asked inquiries. If your question is not listed, contact our office at 918-337-5277.

When do I need to bring in my necessary information? As soon as you have gathered all your information, bring it to us. The sooner we receive the information, the sooner the return can be completed and filed.

What documents do I need to bring in for my taxes? Everyone’s return information is unique, and the documents needed are not all the same. Review our General List of Tax Documents to determine what you may need.

Do I need to make an appointment to drop off my documents? Not necessarily. Generally new or potential clients meet with Susan. If you feel comfortable enough to simply mail or drop off your documents, an appointment is not needed. Please be sure to leave your contact information so we can get in contact with you.

How will I know when my tax return is done and what is the next step after that? When your tax return is ready for filing, we will call you for pick up or that we are mailing it to you. If you are mailing your return, payment, or estimated tax payment to the government, envelopes will be provided to you for you to mail. If we are electrically filing your return, you (and spouse if filing jointly) will need to bring, fax or mail the E-File Authorization Forms to our office. We cannot file the returns until those are received.

What is E-Filing? E-filing is the electronic filing of your tax return to the Federal and State governments. Because it is being recommended by the governments to file all returns electronically, we will set up your tax return to be E-Filed unless you instruct us otherwise.

Does it cost to E-file? E-filing is a completely free service we offer our clients.

When are my estimated tax payments due? Individual estimated tax payments are due April 15th, June 15th, September 15th and January 15th. Businesses’ with a calendar year-end have estimates due April 15th, June 15th, September 15th and January 15th. Fiscal year-end companies estimates are due on the 15th day of the fourth, sixth, ninth, and twelfth months of their tax year. If any of these dates fall on a Saturday, Sunday or holiday, the estimate is due the following business day.

Can I pay my tax payment and estimated taxes electronically? Yes. We will need to know the banking name of the banking institution, account number, routing number, and if it is a checking or savings account. The last possible day for the tax payment electronic draft is April 15th, but you may request an earlier date.

Can I have my refund direct deposited directly into my account? Yes. If fact, we recommend this method due to the faster turnaround time compared to receiving a check in the mail. We will need to know the banking name of the banking institution, account number, routing number, and if it is a checking or savings account.

How do I check the status of my federal refund? For the current year, go to www.irs.gov and click on “Where’s my Refund”. For this year or prior years’ amended returns, call 1-800-829-4477.

I have filed an extension on my own, but need to complete and file my return.  Can SDA prepare my taxes? Yes. We prepare taxes year-round even if we did not file the extension. Bring in all necessary documents and we will prepare your tax returns.

How do I get Federal and Oklahoma Tax Forms and Publications? For Federal Tax Forms and Publications, call 1-800-829-1040 or go to www.irs.gov and click on “Tax Forms and Publications”. For Oklahoma, call 1-800-522-8165 (in-state) or go to www.oktax.state.ok.us and click on “Forms and Publications”.

How do I get a Federal EIN? Go to www.irs.gov and click on “Online EIN Application”.

How long do I need to keep my documents and records? Use our Record Retention Guide for suggestions on how long to keep different documents.
